MetaFind is a powerful search tool with four ways to search:
MetaSearch forwards simple or advanced queries to as many as 20 major search engines, then blends the results to provide the most complete results possible. By ranking the results according to the consensus of multiple engines, relevant results rise to the top, while spam and paid listings are pushed to the bottom.
Group Web Search bypasses the search engines and goes directly to the source, forwarding your query to focused Search Groups drawn from over 5000 searchable web sites.
Custom Form Search provides direct access to the search engines of web sites too specialized for standard search tools.
Hybrid Search uses the results of a MetaSearch to choose the best web sites from a Web Search Group and searches those sites for you.
MetaFind has two modes: a compact floating toolbar that sends results to your favorite browser and a full-sized app with its own tabbed browser.
Basic searching is as simple as entering a phrase and pressing Enter. For more complex tasks, Advanced mode allows 12 parameters. Searches can be saved and re-run, and MetaSearch results can be saved, printed, and exported. You can find text in the returned results, and copy selections to the ScrapBook.
Choose any of five browsers to send results to or add your own. Customize any Search Group or add new ones. Control how many MetaSearch results are returned, and how long they are kept. Filtered and password-protected access to web sites in Search Groups.
Access to McAfee SiteAdvisor, Norton Safe Web, and Web Of Trust lets you test result links for safety. TextFetch visits result web sites to retrieve expanded descriptions. SiteRanker scans results for a URL and a creates a list of ranks that can be printed and exported. A simple yet powerful scripting language provides automated control of search, rank, and export functions, and can call external programs.
